Panchavarna, or Kerala Mural Paintings, originate from the 8th century AD and are traditionally painted using five colors: white, black, yellow, green, and red. These murals were originally found on temple walls, and are still present across Kerala today. In modern times, artists mix the primary colors to create new shades like pinks and purples, allowing for a modernization of this ancient art form.
